Last night 12 year old me got to come out and be the roller skating queen that she was. Back in 5th and 6th grade I took artistic roller skating lessons, couples ballroom skating, had a routine the whole nine yards...

Our student ministry at church went to the roller rink last night and had an absolute blast! Ryan was a pretty good skater when he was a kid so for the past seven years we have been talking smack about who is the better skater. Last night it was finally proven!

It was so much fun being able to fellowship with young Christians and feel like teens in love holding hands with my hunny couples skating.

I can't wait to go again, if this becomes a regular thing I have to get my own skates!

BAF Student Camp 2011...Part Two

The last day of camp...you are so excited to go home yet so sad that the week is over. It has been a tough few days, I really miss my girls. My heart is so excited for them and their new adventures in college that lay before them. I am reminded so much of myself nine years ago about to begin the same journey yet in a much different place in my life. They are in good hands, hands that will always be there to catch them and guide them and love them more than they can even imagine.

Hopefully something I said or that God lays on their hearts will keep them drawn closely to Him. My biggest fear is that they will make the same mistakes I did...I guess I am learning what it feels like to be a parent...you just want what is best for your kids. It's heart breaking to send them out into the world to make their own choices...it's something you just have to do. Let them live their lives so they have stories and testimonies of their own....

I love you girls and will always be here for you to talk to, cry with and live life...

I'm Dreaming of...

a White Christmas!

That's what I was told at church anyway. My church is doing a "throwback" Christmas program this year spanning the decades from now all the way back to the birth of Jesus! We are highlighting the 80's, 70's, 50's, 40's and the birth of our Lord Jesus. I was asked to come up and take some measurements which turned into making the dress for the 40's song White Christmas inspired by the movie of course!

I just wanted to show you all a little before and after of the upcycled bridesmaid dress I found at the thrift store that turned into a little something along the lines of...

It was literally a Christmas miracle that I found this dress... I don't think I would have had the time or skill to whip this puppy up from scratch!



Here is the dress hemmed up and with the muff and capelet that I made...



A little more fur trim...



And wah-lah, I'm dreaming of a white Christmas (sung in Bing's voice of course!)



Note: as of last night more fur has been added to the capelet for a bigger effect! Can you believe that Jo Ann's is completely sold out of this fur fabric!?!? Yeah neither could I but as Tim Gunn would say... I made it work!
