Road Trip...Lake Charles, LA

*IMAGE HEAVY POST*
This past weekend as most of you know the Mister and I took a road trip to Louisiana for a friends wedding. It was a six or so hour drive and the longest road trip Ryan and I have taken in the entire seven years we have been together! Let me tell you Texas is a BIG state to drive across... Even though the drive was long we had a great time chillin' and taking in the changes in landscape.
As soon as we made it to our hotel we were ready for some food and fun and decided to go check out one of the local casinos so we made our way to the Delta Downs...

For Dinner I settled on Axis venison, mac and cheese and green beans and the food didn't disappoint!
I tried to sneak in a little "what I wore" post in front of the horse racing track after dinner...

Flower Crown: Cookie Louise Pleaze

Earrings/ Jacket/ Top/ Jeggings: F21

After watching the horses for a bit we decided to try our hand at the slots and I won $30! I was pretty excited to take this money thrifting with me the next day...

Before the wedding we decided to discover Lake Charles and that called for a big hearty breakfast and a nice cup o' joe... I warned the Mister to fill up because thrifting is SERIOUS business!

After a trip to the local Goodwill and an antique mall (I will post my loot later!) trip we had to grab some local fare. We spoke to many locals and they all recommended Steamboat Bill's for the best the Gulf Coast has to offer...

These poor crawfish didn't stand a chance, Ryan didn't leave a one on his plate!
After lunch we headed off to see a dear friend of mine from HS tie the knot! Shelby and I were on the drill team together and shared many secrets, tears, hugs and laughter over the years and it was an honor to be there for her special day!

On our way back home we decided to stay a night in Houston (my hometown) and catch up with my brother his family and my bff of sixteen years. Tessa and I met up for dinner followed up by the yummiest of desserts from the Dessert Gallery!

Our last stop before we headed home was a little place in the Heights that I had seen via the Bleubird Blog...Jus' Mac!

If you are EVER in Houston you have to try this place it was super yum! I was secretly hoping to run into the fabulous Miss James and her family of Birds but alas, not this time...

All in all it was such a wonderful trip, the weather was fantastic as well as the food and company. I feel so blessed to have been able to get away for a few days and hopefully can do it again soon! I will be back tomorrow with a post of my thrifted finds so be looking out for that...

loves- Cookie Louise
