Fashion Friday...Goodwill Gangsta'

Ok y'all please bear with me on the quality of photos here... now that we've got that out of the way. Man it feels good to be a Goodwill Gangsta'! Scored this skirt at the thrift for two bucks, that day happened to be 1/2 off yellow tag day and wouldn't ya know everything I wanted had a yellow tag!

Tee: LOFT

Belt: Target

Purse: Goodwill

Skirt: Goodwill

Shoes: Nine West

Earrings: Cookie Louise Pleaze

Silver Jewelery: James Avery

These pics were taken down the hall from my office in horrible florescent lighting...hence the fuzziness not to mention my laziness in not wanting to take more photos. Gotta love the wood paneling, SUPER old faux leather couch and blue carpet...keeping it classy in downtown CC!

Look at my TINY pony...my hair is growing a little at a time... have a wonderful weekend folks! loves- Cookie Louise

Wardrobe Remix...

This week I wanted to do something a little different and remix a piece that I have already shared with you. Personally I feel like I am the queen of mixing and matching pieces. I learned at a very young age that this was the way to make your wardrobe have more use value and look enormous. And lets face it, who doesn't want to look like they have a zillion different outfits?

Remember this thrifted Benetton skirt?

Well I had to get one more wear out of it this season and decided it was only going to get warmer here in the Coastal Bend so it was now or next year...

Bow: F21

Blouse: Gifted (F21)

Sweater: Vintage

Belt: Target (2009)

Skirt: Thrifted (Benneton)

Booties: Shii

I love the camel and navy with the darker tones in the skirt. The color pallet is a little patriotic but not overtly. These shoes are my fave from 2010, I am so sad to see them go after the cold weather goes away. I am so darn hard on my shoes they never last me too long... the problem is I keep wearing them to the point of embarrassing and need to learn to let go.

Are you a mixer and matcher or do you buy outfits and keep them together? Have a GREAT Wednesday...

Fashion Friday...Sparkle & Shine

Who said that a little sparkle was only for the holiday season? I always get a little bummed when NYE passes us by and I am told to put away my sequins for next year. So today I decided to be a bit rebellious and break out the sparkle anyway!

Sure I got a few funny looks at the office but they made me happy and let's face it, I get strange looks anyway...

Sequin Beret: F21 (last season)
Leopard Blouse: Target
Dress: Anna Sui for Target (couple of years ago)
Granny Sweater: Local antique shop (only $5.00!!!)
Tights: JCP
Oxfords: Boutique 9 via 6PM.com

I love this outfit and so many things about it, for instance it makes me feel young and carefree. There is just something about a dress with pockets that can do that for a girl, I highly suggest everyone invest in a dress with pockets! I love the mix of the leopard and tweed and shine, I love the colored tights and most of all I LOVE my cozy granny sweater! I have been hoping to find one in good condition at a great price and when I saw this gem I was tickled pink when the owner of the shop said it was mine for five bucks!

Here's to a great start for the weekend full of fun and family...

Fashion Friday... 70's Jumper

So, last Saturday evening I decided to take a trip to the Goodwill and see what was left over after the 50% off Saturday sale. If you don't make it super early expect mass chaos! Imagine my glee to see this little wool number peeking out at me on the dress rack...eep!

This little Lanz Original was mine no need to try on, I would make it work! Even better was the price, it was 1/2 off so I only paid two bucks and some change, can you believe it? Not too mention it fits like it was made for me!

It was a little chilly this morning so I decided to pair my trusty corduroy blazer with it, the result was magical.

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE pockets on dresses? Best idea any designer ever had, seriously!

One of my faverorite features of the dress is the way the wrap criss crosses in the back, it is super flattering. I have to figure out a pattern for this little number because I totally need one for warmer summer days.

Headband: Cookie Louise Pleaze

Blazer: Express (10 or so years ago!)

Swan Print Blouse: F21

Vintage Jumper: Lanz Originals (Goodwill)

Tights: Target

Boots: JCP

Fashion Friday...Vintage Edition

Today was a very fun outfit day for me... can you believe that I am lucky enough to get to wear this to a very conservative office in South Texas? I know *pinches herself* very lucky lady indeed!

I had spotted this dress in a local vintage shop and passed her on by...after a week of thinking about the dress and why on Earth I didn't buy it I hightailed it back to the store the following Saturday. Low and behold there she still was just begging me to try her on, so I kindly obliged!

She fit, I was smitten and she was mine...the rest is history!

This vintage beaut is a little harder to style because of the length and I am having a hard time deciding to take the hem up or not because I don't want to change the vintage integrity of the dress, what do you think?

Well here is my styling of her on those cold winter days...

50's Dress: Vintage
Cardi: NY&Co
Cameo: Mee Maw's (Her Graduation gift in 1943)
Belt: Steve Madden
Grey Tights: Wal Mart
Pink Tights: Target
Boots: Gifted

Sorry for the bad hair, I am trying to grow it out and sadly it's at a very awkward stage for me. If you have any styling tips I would love to hear them!

Fashion Friday... baby it's cold outside!

Happy Friday beautiful blog readers, I don't know about you but I have been looking forward to the weekend all week! Saturday I am hosting a Christmas party at my casa for the beautiful women I serve with and working on some orders as well as a surprise something for my church's Christmas service....busy bee indeed!

Well today's Fashion Friday look is inspired by the cold air and holiday ahead. I love wool skirts with oxfords they just scream the good old days to me!

Necklace: F21
Swan Print Blouse: F21
Cardi: Target
Snake Print Belt: Target
Wool Skirt: Thrifted/ Benetton
Grey Tights: Wal-Mart
Fishnets: JCP
Oxfords: Boutique 9

This outfit was perfect for the office and running related errands...there is nothing worse than going from office to office in uncomfortable heels, right ladies?

I hope this outfit inspires you to re-work some things you already have and go find an amazing thrifted wool skirt like I did... It's amazing the beauty that the skirt had after some dry cleaning love!

Have a blessed weekend!

Fashion Friday... the proper way to wear vintage

You all know what today is and if you are a fan on Cookie Louise Pleaze's FB page you know what this post is going to be about! Styling Vintage in a modern way...

Cat Eye Sunnies: Vintage
60's Fur Trimmed Coat: Vintage (my Mee Maw's)
Yellow Dress: Vintage/Etsy (gift from the Mister on Thanksgiving!)
Belt: Target
Bangles and Ring: Vintage (the mister's GG's)
Tights: Target
Boots: JC Penny

This STUNNING dress came with a matching yellow patent belt...so adorbs but not quite right for the beginning of December! So to make this beauty more season appropriate I added the brown belt, tights and tall boots.

The nicest comment was made by my dear friend Donna who exclaimed, "When you said Ryan bought you a 50's dress I expected you to look like you were going to a sock hop...but you can hardly tell it's vintage!"

So sweet, for me that's the whole point! Add some contrasting modern pieces to the look to tone it down and wah la! Vintage in a modern way...

Fashion Friday...

Hello Lovely...

This edition of Fashion Friday is inspired by the modern way to wear denim on denim and not look like you are wearing the dreaded "Canadian Tuxedo"! It's super windy which equals super chilly down here by the bay so I opted for my favorite look...layers!

The secret to achieving this look is not to wear the same color denim on top as on bottom. I also haven't really noticed many dark wash denim shirts so go for lighter on top and as dark as you can on bottom.

I mixed in one of my super sweet vintage finds and I must say... I LOVE THIS LOOK!!!

Earrings: F21
Striped V-Neck: Target
Denim Button-up: NY&Co
Enamel Belt: Vintage
Bracelet: Target
Chunky Capelet: Old Navy
Jeans: Thrifted J Brand
Booties: Shii

I hope you find some inspiration in the pieces that I put together today...become a follower and leave me a comment I would love to hear from you!

Fashion Friday...

I love fall and layers and the great Texas weather in general! Today's look is inspired by those things as well as adding thrifted pieces to the mix. You don't need to spend a million to look like a million.

Headpiece: Cookie Louise Pleaze
Blouse: Thrifted
Skirt: F21
Belt: American Eagle
Shoes: Dillards

I love the subtle mix of the floral blouse and the checkered skirt, just enough to give it a little interest.

These hunter green 40's inspired closed toe shoes are some of my absolute faves for sure! They go with everything and lend a vintage feel to everything...

I hope you enjoyed this edition of Fashion Friday, please leave some comment love and become a follower if you aren't already!

Besos,

Christina
