Project ReStyle...Woah to Wonderful

When I first spotted this mu mu at the thrift I instantly saw some possibility! The fabric alone was worth the purchase. Once I pulled her off of the rack i was intrigued to say the least and was hoping that this would be an easy shortening fix once I tried it on.

Something you don't know about me is that I love anything dohlman sleeved or "bat wing" as it's sometimes called. Not too sure why, I think it's because I have a small frame up top and I think this style makes me look even smaller and who doesn't love that?!

So when I got it home and tried it on the LONG kimono style sleeves and faux turtle neck did NOTHING for me...pretty awful.

Before:

Well that's when I knew making this a dohlman style top would be super easy, all I had to do was grab my ruler and using a fabric marker draw a line diagonally from waist to tip of sleeve and sew the line up.

Easy peasy... then I just cut to my desired length and hacked off the neckline to make it an off the shoulder look and I was all set...simple as that!

After:

Dress: Thrifted

Scarf: F21

Earrings: JCP

Belt: Steve Madden via Stein Mart

Ring: F21

Bracelets: Dillard's

Moccasins: Minnetonka via Journeys

I feel like a million and one bucks in this dress. The mister even said I looked beautiful in it and usually he is unsure of some of my ReStyles so that's a HUGE complement!

  1. WHAT?!? CHRISTINA! This is absolutely hands down THE most amazing dress restyle ever. Like...ever ever. I'm blown away! My jaw kinda dropped when I saw it on you. The colors are beautiful, and I absolutely can't get over the sleeves. I am so impressed! Elsie needs to feature this beauty on her blog. That's all I have to say about that!

(ps...my husband is so weirded out by a lot of my restyles, too, so it's always exciting when he actually likes one. I think that mexican embroidery dress is the first one he's liked!)
